What makes these American homes so darn beautiful? House #5 - the Finale’!

House #5 - Summer Breeze (the turquoise beauty!)

Hi Home-Lovers!

Thanks so much for joining me this week on a journey through a range of beautiful American character homes. I hope you’re feeling inspired and ready to make some improvements in the new year - whether big or small - towards making your house your DREAM HOME!

We’ve finally reached House #5 - Southern Breeze - (she’s the turquoise beauty in the top image). For those of you who love the Plantation and/or Hamptons style - this home’s for you! With several of the homes I found a mismatch between the inside and out - yet Summer Breeze had a seamless style all the way through and a bunch of credit goes to the Interior Designers - Tassles of Louisville - they did a great job!

Now let’s get started with our last beauty of the week!

Southern Breeze is a stunning Plantation Style home with a two tiered front porch and oversized square columns making it a real standout on the street. The exterior has a lot of Greek Revival elements, a common style in the USA, including this beautifully framed front door which made for a very grand entry!

The home is entered through a double height space featuring this classic staircase - quite a blend of styles. I wonder if that newel post could have stayed more traditional like the stair treads to compliment the traditional bones of the home? Your thoughts? Yet I can see the designers have been really brave, and where they could have chosen a traditional Plantation/Colonial interior - they’ve gone quite edgy with their furnishings creating a super LUXE feel.

The kitchen is elegant with simple white shaker cabinetry. The feature is this beautiful white marble look quartz - these waves of earthy colours run along counter tops, splashbacks and an integrated sink and together with the brass hardware and lighting - are super luxurious.

I really admire the craftsmanship that has gone into this rangehood and splasback stone detail - check out those curves!!

A pretty “little” scullery sits of to the side - I love how these American homes make use of colour and pattern both in the cabinets and wallpaper. So much joy - and shouldn’t our homes be joyful?? Let’s be more brave peoples!

Classic Plantation style furnishings and wallpaper - those black accents including black/blue doors were great for contrast and gave your eyes a resting spot amongst all the glamour!

A gorgeous Parent’s Retreat upstairs - check out that colour!!

I don’t have too many pics of the Master Bedroom, it was a little too traditional for my tastes, but the Ensuite was super stylish and I really admired their use of colour, pattern and texture. I also love those black shaker double doors - note for next project!!

Back down-stairs for this amazing screened-in porch - imagine entertaining here! These inside-out spaces are another feature many of these homes do well - they are designed as true extensions of the home and fitted out with all the interior luxuries.

I hope you enjoyed House #5 - Southern Breeze and thanks again for following along this week. Now we’ve come to the end of our Top 5 Home Tour of the USA - I wonder what was your favorite? I’ll be running an online poll next week - so be sure to cast your vote!!

Have a lovely weekend and stay inspired!
