What makes these American homes so darn beautiful? House #4!

Hi Home-Lovers!

We’re drawing close to the grand FINALE’ for this week’s Top 5 Home Tour from the USA. Today I’m sharing with you House #4 - Lovell, a sweet Modern Farmhouse, actually the very first home I walked into. I was blown away with all the beautiful detailing, especially the trim work, that goes into these American character homes. Everywhere you look there’s mouldings or panelling - timber frame homes provide so many opportunities to add texture.

Tomorrow I’ll be featuring house #5 - “Southern Breeze” - the name just grabs you, right? It’s a stunner and you won’t want to miss it!

Sorry #4 - let’s get back to you!

The Lovell is a classic Modern Farmhouse with the quintessential white ‘batton on board’ cladding, black window frames with cross-bars, dark slate roof with gable ends and a beautiful raised front porch - such a strong front elevation, you can imagine it standing stoically in a rural wilderness!

This luxury version of the utilitarian farmhouse features a timber clad ceiling to the porch which together with the glowing lanterns adds a beautiful warmth. Note how striking the black window frames are? We’ll chat about this later.

The kitchen is a lovely simple farmhouse style with floor to ceiling white shaker cabinets and a contrasting feature island counter. Check out that super thick benchtop - it was really impressive and the butler sink must have been close to 1 metre wide. The ceilings were high, at least 3 metres throughout so these oversized details suited the space. The satin gold and brass metal accents upped the luxe feel.

The decor and furnishings in the home styling were elegant and understated - Lead Designer Libby Hegleson and her team did an excellent job. The interior and exterior flowed nicely.

Remember I pointed out the black window frames on the exterior? My clients often um and ah about this choice, they love them on the outside of the home but they can look so harsh on the inside. This is a beautiful detail below where the moulded architraves cover the majority of the frame except for the slimline cross bars - so much lighter but still absolutely classic!!

The staircase had a nice softness about it - they could have gone black balusters like many of the pics I’ve shared from the previous homes, but this had almost a Hamptons feel to it. Check out that beautiful feature wall paneling in the 2nd pic, just to one side, very classy.

I don’t know why, but I don’t have many bedroom shots of this house - most likely COMPLETELY overwhelmed!! But here’s a few snaps of the Master - the ceiling is a stunning raked design with VJ cladding and boxed out beams, with soft grey-blue tones - again quite Hamptons.

The Master Ensuite was a stunner. Separate basins with white marble tops and central timber cabinets for storage - beautiful and practical. I also looooved these shaker doors throughout with the chunky black hardware!

And finally the sweetest screened in porch attached to the side. All of these homes did their inside-out spaces really well. You’ve got outdoor cooking, fireplaces, cosy seating and the screening keeps the bugs out. They really are another room of the home. But wait for house #5 on Friday - sorry #4 - it’s going to blow your mind!!

Thanks again for joining me - I’m having a bunch of fun sharing these tours, I almost feel like I’m back on vacation!! Almost … Don’t miss out on tomorrow’s final Home Tour blog post - you’re going to love it!

Don’t forget to share your thoughts - either below in the Comments box or online in the Insta or FaceBook posts. I’d love to hear your ideas!
